Houston Michael Hall

H.M.H. August 3rd 2012

The night before the hospital called to get my insurance information. I thought we'd be going in around noon since we had a few people infront of us, but when they called that night they informed me that I was now first in line! 6:15 the phone rang and they asked us me to eat a light breakfast and to be at the hospital by 7:30am. We got up gathered our things and stopped at Gandies on the way to the hospital.  We arrived got checked in and then came the IV I asked them to put it in my left hand because I'm right handed it made everything much easier to do.  It hurt and did stop hurting once she got it in and kept hurting until that night. Stupid IV.
Then it was time to start the Pit! My doctor was in SLC at a C-section and told them to start me on a low dose because they normally start you a little higher. There Mike and I saw watching the Olympics and I was having contractions every 4 to 5 min apart. When I arrived I was dilated to a 4 and about 50, 60% effaced. From 8 to 12 I became more effaced and dilated to a 6. At 12 I got an epidural because I knew my doctor was on his way to break my water. The contracts were very strong, but still toleable it makes me think I could totally go natural, but I never will. The guy giving the epidural was really funny. I hate needles and he was good a making me feel relaxed. He showed Mike and I the needle and explained all of it after, it was pretty neat. After that around 1 my doctor finally arrived to break my water. Once he did that the contractions got a lot stronger and closer together which I couldn't feel any pain so I didn't mind. I was feeling some good pressure though. My mom and my friend Kristen came to keep us company. I was pretty nauseated and Kristen gave me some DoTerra oil which helped along with some Zofran. I kept progressing and Houstons heart rate was not recovering. They put a mask on me like they did with Peyton and of course it make me scared. Flash backs of my accident came across my mind.  I was worried for Houstons safety. They had me switch positions and he still was having a hard time. I was really feeling a lot of pressure and the nurse said your a 10 and your doctor isn't here (he went back to his office to wait). She said we are getting this baby out weather he is here or not. She called in a few more nurses who I later found out were the respiratory staff... I later found out that he was watching everything on the monitor and left as soon as he saw his heart rate dropping. So as soon as she said "Were getting this baby out weather he's here or not". He came running in! Grabbed the stuff and I yelled at my dad and brother to get out, he said it is time. We need to get this baby out fast. I pushed once, then he grabbed the vacuum and put it on his head. I pushed again and he was out, dark hair was the first thing I saw! Once they got the cord from around his neck and the junk out of his lungs, Mike cut the cord! My Mom, Kristen and Mike all went to see him get weighed. He grabbed the edge of the scale :) It was funny from what I could see. 8 lbs and 7 oz everyone was guessing 7 pounds they thought he'd be a lot smaller than Pey, but no he is 2 oz bigger than her. 9/10 on his APGAR! 19.5 inches long. They were worried about his oxygen flow and said it was good from the tests they ran on the umbilical cord. It was scary and exciting all the the same time so many emotions. I could feel everything a lot more since I didn't keep dosing my self like I did with Peyton.

When they took H to go get cleaned Mike went with him and thats about the time I started to freeze! My left leg stayed numb for a few hours so no walking for me. I couldn't get warm. They gave me like five heated blankets. My body was kind of freaking out, it was weird. I've never felt so cold in my life. I also was very nauseous and the drugs they gave me for that knocked me out, I couldn't keep my eyes open I didn't sleep the night before. I'm glad all of my family was there and didn't mind my falling in and out of sleep.

Houston has thick dark hair and I LOVE it. He has these adorable chubby cheeks that I can't stop kissing and mommas little lips, sorry little man I hope they get bigger. I noticed he has his dads toes. I'm not very good at saying who he looks like and all that so you'll just have to decide for yourself.  Most people say he looks just like his daddy. Handsome as ever. I'm still hoping his eye are green like his dads, but we won't know that for a few months.

Here is a slide show of some of the pics, sorry I haven't got his professional ones back from the hosptial shoot yet, but I'll post them when I get them.
